The development of the Mississippi School of the Arts on the historic Whitworth Campus in Brookhaven included a new eight-story Student Life Center to contain a three-hundred student dormitory, a dining facility, library, laundry, and exercise room. The construction method and cost of the new building was to be comparable to other public high schools in Mississippi. In addition, the Mississippi Department of Archives and History had to approve the design to protect the mid-rise’s impact on the Mississippi Landmark Site.
